- Create libraries or other storage areas to hold products.
- Maintain current status information on all products.
- Accept and record the receipt of new or revised products into appropriate libraries.
- Prevent changes to product versions once declared ready for review.
- Control the allocation of new version numbers to changed products.
- Archive previous copies of a product.
- Ensure the security and preservation of the master copies of all project products.
- When authorised to do so will issue copies of products for review or information or alternatively a new copy of a product for corrections or amendments.
- Maintain a record of all copies issued.
- Notify holders of any changes to their copies.
- Monitor all Project Issues and ensure that products are re-submitted to the Configuration Library after any authorised change and maintain an Issues log.
- Collect and retain information that will assist in the assessment of what products are impacted by a change to a product.
- Produce Product Status Accounts (where required).
- Assist in conducting Configuration Audits.
- Liaise with other Configuration Librarians where products required by the project are common to other programmes, projects or systems.
