Shortcut Access Keys

Navigation links that are common to most pages on this web site have been assigned shortcut access keys for easier access without the use of a mouse. Below is a list of the shortcut access keys currently in use throughout this site. Standard UK Government Recommended Access Keys have been used in addition to several other site or menu specific access keys.

Site Tools Menu Access Keys:

Main Menu Access Keys:

Sub Menu Access Keys:

Please note the sub menu Access Keys below have been allocated to the sub menu within each Main Menu Section. Each Sub Menu access key is enabled such that multiple pages within the sub menu can be accessed with the same access key unless otherwise stated above e.g. 'News' and 'Access Keys' which are 2 and 0 respectively. In Internet Explorer you can view which sub menu tab has been selected in the status bar of Internet Explorer, however you should enabled the status bar by selecting 'view status bar' in Internet Explorer. From statistics collected and feedback from users of our site most appear to use Internet Explorer 7.0. For other browsers each sub menu page may be accessed by pressing the associated access key a number of times corresponding to the sub menu tabs position within the sub menu.

In most Windows browsers hold ALT and press the assigned access key on the keyboard either once for Site Tools and Main Menu Keys or a number of times for sub menu control.

If the browser is Internet Explorer, do the same as for Netscape, but also press the 'enter' key to navigate to a page.

On Apple use Cmd + key.

For the Macintosh platform, hold down the left-hand 'Control' and press the assigned key on the keyboard. (e.g. Control-1 navigates to the home page).
